Walgreens, continues to grow in the Portland area with a new addition at the corner of N.E. Broadway and Grand. LEEKA Architects, formerly STOA / EKA architects worked along with C.E. John Development company to re-develop an existing bank building property to satisfy Walgreens stringent requirements. The existing roof and columns were saved and incorporated into the new building as a green construction strategy rather than demolishing the entire existing structure. LEEKA Architects worked closely with the Portland building department to satisfy requirements of a special Lloyd Center neighborhood design overlay and in the end proposed a solution that met with overall design and code satisfaction to all parties involved with the project.
